BASIC IDENTIFYING PANGASIUS SPECIES CHARACTERISTICS:

- Swai: Large, flattened head that widens to both sides, bright silvery body with a dark green back. The belly is longer and larger than that of the Basa fish. The anal fin is light pink with a reddish tint.

- Basa: Round, compact head with a flat snout that is shorter than the other Pangasius species; large and flared caudal peduncle. Round, silvery-white belly, light brownish-green back, and a short, slightly flattened body.

- Conchophilus: The head features a pointed, elongated snout resembling a triangle. The body is long, slender, and compressed, narrowing towards the belly. The caudal peduncle is tapered, the back is light dark grey, and the underside is pinkish-white (or milky white).

- Krempfi: Features a greenish back and head with a white belly. Notably, the ventral, caudal, dorsal, and pectoral fins are white, but their outermost edges are distinctively yellow.
